The homesite once was the location of a 1920's fishing cabin with a handsome rock fireplace. Through the years, the cabin was eventually reclaimed by the mountains, but the fireplace remained. In 1960, the current owners discovered the fireplace and built a small, cozy cabin around it. Later on, two large additions were made to the little cabin: one for a master bedroom suite, and one for a large dining room. Also added to the grounds were a two-story garage and a two-story boathouse. The main house itself has four bedrooms, each with a full bathroom. There is also a sleeping loft with twin beds. The original house has its own screened-in front porch and sitting area with porch swing, and also has the original wood-burning rock fireplace (there is a generous supply of wood stacked on the grounds). The 'new' part of the house has a large living room with gas logs in the fireplace, a spectacular dining room with a huge round table and its own fireplace with gas logs, large galley kitchen, large master suite, and a large wooden deck with a hot tub. Our rustic cabin is located in a peaceful, airy setting! It has front and back screened porches for additional living/dining space. And brand new central HVAC! Recently updated, this cabin has all of the creature comforts you need while enjoying nature and the laid-back mountain life. The WiFi is strong for streaming and WiFi calling. There is dock access to Lake Burton and a swimming area off the side of the dock (specifics will be provided prior to booking). Surrounded by lovely mountains, this cabin has a relatively flat lot. Our cabin is a 2 bedroom/2 bath (both on the main floor) with the second bedroom being a large sleeping loft that accommodates an additional 4. There are 2 camping cots in the loft for additional sleeping if necessary. There is a TV in the great room and another in the master bedroom. Both are able to connect through Roku if you have an account for Netflix/Hulu/Prime Video/etc. YouTubeTV and Frndly are signed in and ready for you to use. No pets please. The neighbors are super friendly, but will leave you alone for privacy. And we are just a text or message away if you need anything. The serenity of this area drew us here to visit many years ago. Our family has been coming to Lake Burton since 1943 and our grandmother purchased this property in 1949. With over 1000 feet of shoreline we are one of the largest lots on Lake Burton. We have so many happy family memories of swimming, touring the lake, fishing, eating at Laprades, buckdancing at Mountain City, whitewater rafting on the Chattooga River (1/2 hour away) and Nantahala River (45 minutes away) and exploring Clayton, Clarkesville, Helen and the surrounding area. This historic home was built in 1928 from lumber milled on the property and is a wonderful place to enjoy the cool clear waters of Lake Burton. The four bedroom, three bathroom home is on a flat lot and has one of the best views on the lake with beautiful sunset views. Three bedrooms are on the main level and a fourth bedroom is upstairs. The master bedroom has a king size bed with an attached bathroom. On the other side of the house are two bedrooms.
